CABOT, Vt. (AP) - Residents in a Vermont town will once again vote on whether to keep the local high school open.

The Times Argus reports a petition was submitted to the Cabot school board last month to close down the high school and give students school choice.

Those in favor of the petition say shutting down the high school will save the town money, but school officials have said it would cost taxpayers more.

School Board Chairman Chris Tormey says the Washington Northeast Supervisory Union is working to determine the financial impact.

A similar petition was rejected by voters in 2013.

The vote on whether to keep the school open will take place on Town Meeting Day March 5.
