KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - The county courthouse in downtown courthouse will be closed for the rest of the week after another water line break.
The Jackson County Courthouse has been closed since Thursday after a water main break filled the basement with about 10 feet (about 3 meters) water. The flooding knocked out power and carried in thousands of pounds of mud and debris.
The county initially planned to reopen the building Monday. But now crews are cleaning up after a water line break on an upper floor caused water to leak to the floors below.
Jackson County Executive Frank White Jr. said in a news release that the county is “disappointed” but added that with “a nearly 90-year-old building, it is not uncommon for one problem to cause other issues.”
