Media mogul Oprah Winfrey and a host of celebrities will be in attendance at the 10th annual Women in the World Summit to tackle “censorship, patriarchy” and the question: “Can women save the world?”
A press release for the event confirmed Ms. Winfrey as the keynote speaker for April’s event at the David H. Koch Theater in New York City.
“Be there for an exhilarating three days of conversations with women who will not be silenced by censorship, patriarchy, or injustice — women who wake us all up and take down fake news,” the event’s ticket page boasts. “In a time of synced-up opinions and dubious viral headlines, get inspired by galvanizing women leaders on the Women in the World stage — live, unscripted, stoked and woke.”
A partial list of speakers includes Anna Wintour, Ashley Judd, Brie Larson and Cindy McCain.
“[Participants will discuss] how women can save the planet, battle misinformation, preserve journalism, champion same-sex love, advance the gains of #MeToo, confront authoritarian regimes and promote the rise of women leaders,” the press release by Women in the World and Tina Brown Live Media said, The New York Post reported Thursday.
Sponsors for the April 10-12 event include Toyota; leadership sponsors AARP, AT&T, The Boston Consulting Group, Mastercard, Microsoft, P&G and UBS.
Supporting sponsors include AMC Networks, PepsiCo and Thomson Reuters, as well as media partner Her Campus.
