BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - Bighorn sheep and moose hunters enjoyed another successful year in North Dakota in 2018.

The state Game and Fish Department says hunter success was 100 percent for bighorn sheep and 92 percent for moose, the same as in 2017. The success rate for elk was 65 percent, up from 56 percent the previous year.

Game and Fish issued two bighorn sheep licenses and auctioned one. All three hunters harvested a bighorn ram.

A total of 329 moose licenses were issued last year, and 319 hunters harvested 294 animals.

The department issued 418 elk licenses, and 380 hunters harvested 248 elk.

Moose, elk and bighorn sheep licenses are issued as once-in-a-lifetime licenses in North Dakota.
