THIBODAUX, La. (AP) - Louisiana State Police say a man in an electric wheelchair was hit and killed when he moved to the left on a two-lane road as an SUV approached from behind him.
He’s identified as 54-year-old Carl Guidry of Thibodaux (TIB-uh-doh).
The crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday near Thibodaux.
Senior Trooper Jesse LaGrange says in a news release that Guidry was in the roadway near the fog line and was traveling west in the westbound lane, and then moved farther into the travel lane.
The news release notes that pedestrians should walk a safe distance from traffic lanes while facing oncoming traffic.
