Donald Trump calls South Korea, Japan mid-flight to discuss results of North Korea summit

President Trump made in-flight calls to Asian leaders Thursday to loop them in on his talks with North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un.

Mr. Trump called South Korean President Moon Jae-in and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe during a flight from Hanoi, Vietnam, to Anchorage, Alaska, where he plans to address 200 military troops during a refueling stop on the way to D.C., White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters on Air Force One.

Each call lasted about 10 to 15 minutes.

The president’s second-ever summit with Mr. Kim ended abruptly without a deal Thursday, after Pyongyang asked Washington to lift crushing sanctions without offering to fully dismantle its weapons sites.

Mr. Trump said the demand was unacceptable to the U.S., so he walked.
