NORTH BEND, Ore. (AP) - The Coast Guard rescued a 73-old man stranded on a forest hill south of Eugene near Drain after a snowstorm blocked access to roads.
The Coast Guard says a helicopter crew hoisted the man to safety Wednesday afternoon and took him to a Eugene hospital for hypothermia treatment.
Oregon Office of Emergency Management called the Coast Guard to request the rescue of the man, who had been staying at a logging site to look after equipment when a snowstorm hit.
The Coast Guard says after several days the man ran short on supplies and ran out of propane used for heating the logging trailer so he called 911.
