LAYTON, Utah (AP) - Authorities are investigating the source of petroleum vapors that some Layton residents have reported smelling in their homes.
The vapors were reported to the state Department of Environmental Quality and the Davis County Health Department earlier this month, leading officials to conduct water samplings and investigations.
The Layton Fire Department looked into initial reports, determining the vapors did not present a fire danger.
City officials say that additional residents have reported gasoline smells coming from storm drains.
Officials say people should call 911 if they smell vapor. Firefighters will check for fire dangers.
