SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Students and teachers were forced to stay inside a suburban Salt Lake City school while wildlife officials corralled a mountain lion that was spotted nearby.
Jordan School District spokeswoman Sandy Riesgraf said Wednesday that the cougar was spotted at a park near the Bluffdale Elementary School around 9 a.m. That triggered a shelter-in-place order for the school.
Wildlife officials cornered the mountain lion about two hours later in a pipe and put it in a cage. The shelter-in-place was then lifted.
Riesgraf says it is the third time in the last month a district school has had to keep kids inside because of a cougar sighting nearby.
