NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - A Yale psychiatry professor has testified that a Connecticut woman was in a psychotic state when she drowned her two children in a bathtub and believed it was God’s plan for the family to go to heaven.
The New Haven Register reports Dr. Paul Amble testified Monday in the murder trial of 39-year-old LeRoya Moore. He said Moore continues to suffer from schizo-affective disorder.
Amble testified for the defense. He evaluated Moore after the 2015 killings of her 6-year-old daughter, Aleisha, and her 7-year-old son, Daaron, in their East Haven home. Amble said Moore lived with the bodies for several days and repeatedly cut her wrists in a failed suicide attempt.
Moore’s lawyers are pursuing an insanity defense.
The trial continues Tuesday in New Haven Superior Court.
