HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Hartford has reached a deal with the city’s smallest union bargaining unit, which includes pay freezes and a move to a high-deductible health plan.
The six-year contract covers a group of 11 municipal attorneys in the Hartford corporation counsel’s office, and agrees to a 2 percent raise in the coming two years. The Hartford Courant reports workers agreed to switch from a preferred provider health plan to a high-deductible one with a health savings account beginning July 1, 2019.
Democratic Mayor Luke Bronin says he is grateful to the Municipal Lawyers’ Association agreeing to the plan. Union spokesman and city attorney Jonathan Beamon called the deal “fair,” but declined further comment.
The deal will require city council approval.
