Reading “The female ascent to the top, on screen and stump” (Web, Feb. 20) early in the morning over coffee, along with other pieces on the madness of the contemporary political class, inspired me to ponder the motivations behind the identity politics movements promoting “male privilege,” “toxic masculinity” and “#Metoo.”

The coffee made clear that what those who promote “male privilege,” “toxic masculinity” and “#Metoo” really want is the total and complete redistribution of everything having to do with “boyness,” “maleness” and “atherness” throughout the history of Western civilization. Wealth is but one item on the redistribution chopping block.

The practical implication of all this is that before any man votes for any candidate of the Democratic Party, he should read William Shakespeare’s “King Lear.” I understand that it is not currently fashionable to read anything written by dead, old white men — but reading “King Lear” just might save your life and your wealth — and help you avert madness.
