Sen. Bernard Sanders insulted President Trump on Wednesday as he urged supporters to donate to his campaign.
“What’s crazy is that we have a president who is a racist, a sexist, a xenophobe and a fraud,” he tweeted. “We are going to bring people together and not only defeat Trump but transform the economic and political life of this country.”
Mr. Sanders’ comments came after Mr. Trump dubbed him “Crazy Bernie” Wednesday morning.
The Vermont independent launched his bid for the 2020 presidential race on Tuesday, after he lost the Democratic nomination to Hillary Clinton in 2016. In the first 24 hours, the Sanders team announced it had already raised more than $6 million for his campaign.
