Michigan’s John James should be nominated for and confirmed by the Senate as the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. A West Point graduate, the man is also an Army Ranger combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and now a leader of Detroit’s business community.

In this competitive field of candidates for Nikki Haley’s replacement, there is no one more qualified than Mr. James for this position.

After his United Nations service, as a rising star in the Republican Party given his outstanding personal, moral and political qualities, and his private-sector background, Mr. James will become president of the United States.
