TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Gas prices have ticked down a bit in southern New Jersey and across the nation.
AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gas in South Jersey was the state on Friday was $2.24, down from $2.26 a week ago but a big drop from the $2.68 at this time a year ago.
The national average gas price Friday was $2.26 a gallon, down a penny from last week - but also a big from the national average of $2.60 a year ago.
Analysts say the return of the polar vortex and sub-zero temperatures across much of the country has stifled demand, causing gas prices to drop slightly. They say fluctuating prices are likely into next week.
