SEABROOK, N.H. (AP) - The Nuclear Regulatory Commission says it will meet with New Hampshire residents ahead of an anticipated relicensing for Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant.
Regulators set the Wednesday hearing following criticism in January for planning to approve a license extension before the agency’s independent law panel held a safety hearing. New Hampshire Public Radio reports NRC’s acting director for re-licensing Joe Donoghue says the agency expected to hold the safety hearing before issuing a license.
However, Donoghue says safety reviews were finished sooner than expected and it wasn’t communicated properly. He says he will look into any new information Seacoast residents provide at the hearing.
