HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut man has been charged with animal cruelty after an escaped goat led authorities to more than two dozen other animals living in frigid and filthy conditions.
Police in Hartford responded to calls of a goat chasing people during bitter cold Thursday night and discovered the animals living in a backyard.
Officials say they found 16 goats, eight roosters, two ducks and one hen, many of them injured or malnourished. The animals were removed from the property and treated by veterinarians.
Forty-one-year-old Kenya Miller, of Bloomfield, was charged with 25 counts of animal cruelty and released on a promise to appear in court.
Contact information for Miller could not be found Friday. It wasn’t clear if he has a lawyer who could respond to the allegations.
