SAN DIEGO (AP) - At least four dogs were killed when flames swept through a kennel and adjacent home east of San Diego, a fire official said Monday.
A resident and three dogs were rescued after the blaze erupted early Sunday at the Carter Kennels in the Lakeside area, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.
Four dogs died and another one believed to be inside the home was missing, said Lakeside Fire Protection District Division Chief Bernie Molloy. A parrot also died.
Molloy said it wasn’t immediately clear how many animals were at the kennel.
No firefighters were injured and the cause of the blaze remains under investigation, he said.
A damage estimate wasn’t immediately available.
