OPINION:
The Democrats have played their deceptive attempt to impeach President Trump in a manner that is against everything for which our basic rule of law has stood for more than two centuries. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Smith lied again when he said there is overwhelming evidence against Mr. Trump. Asking Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to reopen incomplete investigations concerning Ukraine’s work with the Democratic National Committee to dig up dirt against Mr. Trump in support of his 2016 opponent Hillary Clinton was justified. Delaying aid to Ukraine was justified.
Democrats claim there has been obstruction of justice in not allowing witnesses. But this is exactly what they have done by denying
Republican witnesses and documents. They accuse Mr. Trump of putting politics before country, yet they have criticized him for putting U.S. citizens before the desires of our European allies. They express concern for the rule of law, yet they have completely turned the rule of law around — from innocent until proven guilty to when we accuse you, you are guilty.
The American people cannot tolerate this assault on our democratic process. There are no legal grounds for impeachment.
