OPINION:
California is truly a beautiful state. However, politicians have ruined it. The state, with possibly the highest home and rental prices in the nation, has become out-of-reach for many. It is rated the nation’s first in crime increase, homelessness and poverty. California’s homeowner’s tax exemption amounts to a pitiful 18 cents per day. It has the highest gasoline and sales taxes. The state fails as a place for retirement. Nearly 700,000 residents fled the state in 2018.
California’s K-12 schools are, overall, poor. Added to this is the state mandating that extreme sexual education be taught. This is the apparent answer to the Bible being deemed inappropriate.
Meanwhile, at least one of the state’s largest cities seems to be favoring space for marijuana dispensaries over the expansion of churches, presumably for tax revenues. A state congressman recently pleaded guilty to misuse of campaign funds, a state congresswoman agreed that “thoughts and prayers” should be outlawed concerning gun violence, and the governor is on some petitions for recall.
I tell my beloved adult children living in other states not to move to California. The billboard on Interstate 10 warns the traveler: “California too late. Texas still great.”
