DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) - Federal safety regulators have proposed fining a Davenport bowling alley for violations found after the death of an employee this past summer.
Police and medics sent to the Hotel Blackhawk a little after 10 p.m. on July 7 found 27-year-old Brittany Russell unresponsive in the bowling alley. She was pronounced dead there. She worked for Blackhawk Bowl and Martini Lounge, which is inside the hotel.
An Occupational Safety and Health Administration filing says she was killed after coming into contact with an electrical system while trying to unjam a pinsetter. A representative of the bowling alley didn’t immediately return a call Friday from The Associated Press.
Fines totaling more than $8,300 have been proposed for six violations that OSHA says include failing to cover a live electrical power source.
