PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A Philadelphia man accused of barricading himself inside a house and shooting six police officers during a long standoff last summer was ordered Thursday to stand trial.
Maurice Hill, 36, is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and other offenses. He is accused of shooting at officers who were serving a drug warrant and then keeping police at bay while he fired from inside a building.
After his preliminary hearing, prosecutors announced they would file 62 additional counts against Hill for the dozens of officers he allegedly fired at during the Aug. 14 standoff. The new charges also include aggravated assault and attempted murder.
“These 62 officers did not sustain gunshot wounds, but they were all fired upon by Hill,” District Attorney Larry Krasner said in a statement.
All of the officers who were shot during the standoff survived.
