Bitter cold temperatures and gusty winds are slowing the morning commute in New Jersey, where brief snow squalls left some roads slick and icy.

Drivers were being urged to use caution early Thursday, though no major travel issues were being reported.

Temperatures in most areas were in the high teens, while winds were gusting up to 30 mph, creating wind chills around zero. And conditions were not expected to improve much during the day, with highs only expected to reach the upper 20’s.
