EPPING, N.H. (AP) - Route 101 eastbound and westbound in Epping, New Hampshire, reopened early Tuesday after a crash involving a tanker truck that spilled over 5,000 gallons of fuel, police said.
Police said the driver of a commercial truck with the tanker was traveling west in the right lane on Monday night. A car in the left lane veered into the right lane and collided with the truck and tanker, causing them to roll over. The tanker ruptured.
“It’s a significant leak down the embankment leaking into wood line, grass dirt marsh, no fuel on the roadway at this time,” Lt. John Hennessy of New Hampshire State Police told WMUR-TV.
The driver of the car, a woman, was injured, but not seriously. The tanker truck driver suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
Hazmat personnel contained spillage of the fuel.
