PHOENIX (AP) - A 25-year-old Phoenix police officer has been killed in off-duty motorcycle accident, authorities said Tuesday.
Police officials said Officer Blake Newman died after his motorcycle hit a curb in Glendale and he lost control of it and crashed about 11 p.m. Monday.
Newman was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police officials said Newman had been with the department since June 2018 and was assigned to the patrol in the Maryvale-Estrella Mountain precinct.
Newman is survived by his parents and extended family.
Funeral plans were pending.
