1 killed when fire sweeps through building in Rumford

RUMFORD, Maine (AP) - One person died in a fire that swept through a multifamily home in the western Maine town of Rumford, officials said Tuesday.

The identity of the victim recovered Tuesday morning was not immediately released, officials said.

Three families were able to get out safely, the Rumford town manager said.

The fire was reported late Monday. Witnesses said the people who lived in the building lost everything.
