MIDDLETON, Wis. (AP) - Classes are set to resume Thursday after two high schools in the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District were closed because of threats made on social media.

The district says the threats were found not to be credible. No new threats have emerged.

District administrators say classes were canceled Wednesday at Middleton High School and Clark Street Community School.

The Middleton Police Department says it’s working with the school district to investigate the threats. The elementary and middle schools are open but have an increased police presence.

District spokesman Perry Hibner says the threats were made in multiple posts on Instagram.

The threats were critical of a student-led walkout to support sexual assault victims that was scheduled for Wednesday morning.

The investigation continues, and police will be present at all of the district’s schools on Thursday.
