BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (AP) _ Surgery Partners Inc. (SGRY) on Wednesday reported a loss of $19.8 million in its second quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Brentwood, Tennessee-based company said it had a loss of 59 cents. Losses, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 29 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 17 cents per share.



The surgical facilities operator posted revenue of $445.4 million in the period, which also missed Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $449.6 million.

Surgery Partners shares have declined 33% since the beginning of the year. The stock has dropped 57% in the last 12 months.
