OPINION:
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez protesting a photo of some adolescent supporters wearing Mitch McConnell t-shirts while groping and pretending to choke a cardboard cutout of the constant fame seeker is about as genuine as her economic expertise (“Ocasio-Cortez rips ’Team Mitch’ supporters shown choking, groping cutout of her,” Web, Aug. 6). Which is to say, nil.
“AOC” is a publicity-hungry adolescent herself. Even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democratic caucus members recognize that. Miss Ocasio-Cortez complains when Mrs. Pelosi assigns her non-media-attracting work, yet such work is the purpose and duty of a congressional representative. The only thing Ms. Ocasio-Cortez cares about is that her name is spelled correctly and that she is the lead, above-the-fold story in the printed press. Senate Majority Leader McConnell, on the other hand, is familiar with how to get bills passed, judicial nominees confirmed and policies benefiting his constituents and the nation implemented. Miss Ocasio-Cortez might consider following his example. She might actually mature during the process.
