QUINCY, Mass. (AP) - Police say a 79-year-old Massachusetts man has been taken to a hospital in critical condition after being struck by a police cruiser responding to an emergency call.
Quincy police say Giovanni Angelucci was struck at about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday while a cruiser was “responding to a medical call with CPR in progress” and had its emergency lights activated.
Angelucci was taken to Boston Medical Center in critical condition.
Quincy police say the officer was also taken to the hospital and has been placed on temporary leave. The officer’s name has not been released.
The accident is under investigation by police from a neighboring department.
