ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - Heavy rains fell on an area burned by a wildfire last year, triggering road closures from flooding and debris flows near a Colorado mountain town.
The Aspen Daily News reports an evacuation notice was issued to some residents of Basalt, with warnings to seek higher ground and avoid flowing water Sunday afternoon.
Authorities activated an emergency response plan that called in about 50 responders from Pitkin and Eagle counties, Snowmass Village and Aspen.
The damage was less severe than officials feared.
Tracy Trulove of the Pitkin County Incident Management Team says they have received no reports of injuries, lost property or utility problems.
The Lake Christine Fire burned nearly 20 square miles (52 square kilometers) and forced thousands of people from their homes last summer.
