BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (AP) _ Brookdale Senior Living Inc. (BKD) on Monday reported a loss of $55.5 million in its second quarter.
On a per-share basis, the Brentwood, Tennessee-based company said it had a loss of 30 cents.
The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 28 cents per share.
The senior housing company posted revenue of $1.02 billion in the period.
Brookdale shares have increased roughly 10% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $7.34, a drop of 14% in the last 12 months.
