CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - The University of North Carolina at Charlotte has named a search committee to find a new chancellor.

The next chancellor will succeed Philip Dubois, who announced in July that he will retire next June.

A news release from the school on Friday says Michael L. Wilson, chair of the UNC Charlotte board of trustees, will oversee the 16-member search committee to find the school’s fifth chancellor.

Dubois disclosed his decision in an email sent to the campus. While leading the school through a period of growth, he also guided the Charlotte school last April after a shooting inside a classroom building that killed two students. He also was president of the University of Wyoming when it drew national attention for the 1998 slaying of Matthew Shepard, a 21-year-old gay student.
