HELENA, Mont. (AP) - A Miles City woman died in a crash as Garfield County officers pursued her for driving a stolen sport utility vehicle.

The sheriff’s office says they were called to an altercation between two people in Jordan Tuesday night. Before officers arrived, a 22-year-old woman fled the scene in a green Ford Explorer.

An officer briefly pursued the vehicle until the driver made a U-turn and started to travel back toward Jordan.

On the edge of the town limits, the SUV went into the ditch, overturned and caught fire.

Michaela Jackson was pronounced dead at the hospital in Jordan.
