LOS ANGELES (AP) - A Los Angeles man faces a murder charge for allegedly setting a fire that killed a homeless man on the city’s Skid Row.
The LA County District Attorney’s Office says Jonathan Early was charged Wednesday with murder with the special circumstance allegation that the crime was intentional and involved the infliction of torture.
It wasn’t immediately known if the 38-year-old has an attorney.
Prosecutors say Early on Monday set fire to a tent with Dwayne Fields inside. The 62-year-old died Tuesday from his burns.
Investigators haven’t revealed a possible motive.
The Los Angeles Times reports Fields was a beloved musician known for his blues guitar playing. A candlelight vigil is planned for Wednesday evening on Skid Row.
