LYNDON, Vt. (AP) - Police in Vermont have arrested a driver following a 26-mile chase that reached about 100 miles an hour.

Police said the chase happened Saturday night in the town of Lyndon. Troopers ended the pursuit due to an increase in traffic and other drivers’ safety.

On Tuesday, they took John Sheehy into custody. He’s been accused of excessive speed, reckless endangerment, and other charges. He’s scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 9.

It wasn’t immediately known if Sheehy had a lawyer.
