Sheriff’s officials in North Carolina say a nursing home aide has been arrested on accusations she abused elderly, disabled patients

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Sheriff’s officials in North Carolina say a nursing home aide has been arrested on accusations she abused elderly, disabled patients.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reports that arrest records show 34-year-old Tryquissa Maria Liverman was charged with three misdemeanors in connection with reported assaults on disabled patients at a Fletcher nursing home. Arrest documents accuse her of pinching and striking patients in the face.

Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Aaron Sarver said the name of the business involved is Becky’s Rest Home. Sarver said the facility reported the possible assaults. A woman who answered the phone there Tuesday declined comment and hung up.

Sarver said Adult Protective Services will file an elder abuse report.

Liverman was released from custody with a written promise to appear.

Sarver didn’t know if Liverman has an attorney, and no phone listing could be found for her.
