GROTON, Conn. (AP) - Groton Police say a body has been found in the Thames River.
The Hartford Courant reports that a boater discovered of the body at about 6:42 p.m. Saturday near the railroad bridge by the I-95 overpass and called police.
The river runs in between New London and Groton.
Police said the unidentified male body has been turned over to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Investigators said the medical examiner initially estimated the man to be about 40 years old.
Police said the medical examiner also believed the body had been in the water for an extended period of time.
