PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) - State police are investigating a highway onramp accident that killed a pedestrian in Pawtucket.
Troopers say 76-year-old Joao Daveiga, of Pawtucket, was struck while crossing the Lonsdale Avenue onramp to Interstate 95 south on Friday evening.
Daveiga was later pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital.
State police say the driver at the car remained at the scene and was not injured.
No charges have been filed. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
