DENVER (AP) - Firefighters have fully contained a wildfire that forced the evacuation of about 200 homes in a rural area southwest of Denver.
The fire in the Deer Creek Canyon Park area started late Thursday afternoon and burned about 20-25 acres (8-10 hectares). No homes were lost, and no one was injured.
Mike Taplin, a spokesman for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, said Friday all evacuation orders have been lifted, and firefighters are still working to extinguish hot spots. He says several people heard an explosion and saw smoke before two boys were seen running from the area.
More than 100 firefighters were called to the blaze.
