OPINION:
Never before in our history have we seen the level of divisiveness and hate rhetoric that is now rampant throughout the country. A congressional representative calls for people to get in the face of Republicans. Another publicizes a list of Trump donors, endangering the donors and their families. Administration officials are accosted while at restaurants. Rioters disrupt congressional hearings and call for the Senate majority leader to be killed, right in front of his home. The president is blamed for mass shootings and falsely accused of being a racist.
Face it: There is a correlation between rising mass shootings and this rhetoric infecting the unstable among us. This hatred started when Donald Trump was declared the winner in 2016, and it’s only accelerated. First was a demand for a recount of the Electoral College votes, then came congressional investigation after investigation, then an expensive, two-year investigation of so-called Trump-Russia collusion, then charges of obstruction of justice, and most recently accusations that the president is a racist. After these false charges wear out, surely something else will emerge.
To make matters worse, the mainstream media has an obvious vendetta against conservatives and President Trump, and it skews news to reflect the biased opinions of so-called journalists and social media that provides an outlet for hate rhetoric.
