ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - State officials say hunters killed 12 percent more deer in the last New York hunting season than in 2017.
The Department of Environmental Conservation says hunters killed nearly 228,000 deer during the 2018 season, compared to 203,000 in 2017.
The deer harvest included 114,000 antlerless deer, a 20 percent increase over the last season. Officials say the increase will help limit population growth in areas with too many deer.
