ABERDEEN, Miss. (AP) - A pilot tells the National Transportation Safety Board that a plane that crashed on March 29 in northeast Mississippi suddenly veered left.
In a preliminary report , the pilot told investigators that he attempted to circle around, but collided with the Monroe County Airport’s perimeter fence and ended up in a ditch.
Both the pilot and a passenger suffered minor injuries. The passenger was buying the plane to learn how to fly and was along for the trip from the Marion County-Rankin Fite Airport in Hamilton, Alabama, to the Mississippi airport near Aberdeen.
The plane was substantially damaged.
Two years ago to the day, a pilot and passenger died after a crash near the same airport.
