MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Three Vermont towns are getting funding to increase transportation options and support economic development in their communities.

The towns are Fairlee, Middlebury and Northfield.

The Vermont agencies of Transportation and Commerce and Community Development have announced that Fairlee is receiving more than $95,000 to create a Route 5 corridor plan to improve walking and biking infrastructure.



Middlebury will get more than $95,000 to develop a plan to improve the streetscape and find ways to enhance the connection to the Otter Creek and bring new business vitality to the downtown. Northfield’s grant of more than $88,000 will go toward creating a plan to better connect the town’s villages, Norwich University and their recreational centers by improving the streetscape and the connections to the Dog River.
