HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - Southern Mississippi has hired Jeremy McClain to be its next athletic director.
The school announced the hiring on Thursday and said that McClain will begin his job no later than July 1, pending approval from the state’s college board. McClain was hired after spending more than three years as Troy’s athletic director.
He will be introduced on campus Monday.
McClain is a Mississippi native who previously worked at Southern Miss for three years as the deputy director of athletics. Before that, he was the athletic director at Delta State, which is an NCAA Division II school.
McClain replaces Jon Gilbert, who became East Carolina’s athletic director in December.
