LAKEHURST, N.J. (AP) - A brush fire that has burned thousands of acres on a southern New Jersey military base is still burning.
The fire at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst on broke out around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday on a training range and had burned through about 1,200 acres by Thursday morning.
The base has not been damaged and no evacuations have been ordered. But some roadways have been closed and authorities say it’s not clear when the fire will be contained.
Officials say the fire poses no threat to the base or the community.
