CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) - In a story April 3, The Associated Press reported that the Roman Catholic Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau spent more than $700,000 settling claims with clergy abuse victims. Nearly $126,000 of that amount was spent on a related investigation of church files going back decades.
