ROCKY BOTTOM, S.C. (AP) - State wildlife officials say a landslide has closed a road in the South Carolina mountains.
The Department of Natural Resources said heavy rains over the past several weeks caused part of Horsepasture Road to collapse in the Jim Timmerman Natural Resources Area at Jocassee Gorges in northern Pickens County.
Officials say a 3 mile (5 kilometer) section of the road is closed. They have not determined how long repairs will take.
Wildlife agents say the area saw 8 inches (20 centimeters) of rain in 10 hours on April 19 and has received more heavy rain since then.
