TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Motorists continue to see sharply higher prices at the pumps in New Jersey.
AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gas in the state on Friday was $2.92, which is up 11 cents from last week. Drivers were paying $2.86 a gallon a year ago at this time.
The national average gas price Friday was $2.88, up 5 cents from last week. That’s also higher than the national average from a year ago, when motorists were paying $2.79.
Analysts say the sharply higher pump prices in recent weeks are mostly being driven by higher crude oil prices, increased demand for gas and the ongoing switchover to summer-blend gas.
