Chief Deputy Whip Rep. Dan Kildee said Monday Democrats are “going to agonize over” pursuing impeachment of President Trump following the results of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report.

“We have to make a judgment as to what’s best for the American people. I have been really disturbed by what I have read in the Mueller report, particularly the interactions between the president and his council Don McGahn,” the Michigan Democrat said in an interview with CNN’s “New Day” show.

“We’re going to have to make a hard call on this, you know the easy ones are where we know there will be blowback, but there’s no question on what we should do. We have to carve a path knowing there will be some competing interests here,” Mr. Kildee continued.

“I’ve got to tell you, this is one we’re going to agonize over. This president — the look that we’ve had into this presidency through this report is frightening,” he said.

The Justice Department released a redacted version of Mr. Mueller’s report Thursday, with the special counsel concluding Mr. Trump’s team did not collude with Russia to win the 2016 election but that the president’s attempts to obstruct the investigation could be seen as problematic.

Key Democrats have called for Mr. McGahn to testify before Congress after revelations in the Mueller report show the former White House counsel’s refusal to follow through on Oval Office orders may have saved Mr. Trump from potential obstruction of justice charges.
